Demystifying Alternate Tunings Workshop with Chris Proctor

Why does a re-tuned guitar sometimes seem so intimidating and strange? Instead of focusing on what the tuning prevents us from doing, we'll concentrate on the new opportunities that the tunings provide for us, Chris Proctor introduces alternate tunings using three simple steps, re-tuning one string at a time, and takes you from old familiar territory in standard tuning to dropped D, to double dropped D, and then to G tuning. You'll learn how to make sense of tunings, how to re-orient your left hand to the new landscape, and how to think about a tuning in a way that shortens the learning curve. Given time and interest, we may move beyond G tuning and introduce partial capos as well. You'll leave the workshop with enjoyable song transcriptions appropriate to each of the three steps, and with ideas and resources to use on your own to explore this wonderful new guitar universe.
